We all have had some good days in our past, but we all need to live for the future. Do not look back, look ahead. From your own life, to the life of your family and the life of the church, let's all look ahead; there is much more to come! If you frustrated in life or doing fantastic, please know that God has a fantastic future for you. God has been good, but there is more to come!
Enjoy this 13 week series through Joshua by Pastor Robb Williams and we can all anticipate the great days ahead and together know that there is much more to come!
One way or another we have all had a rich and exciting past, and yet there is much more to come! As we look towards our, Joshua will guide us along the way to blessings and success. But, not just for your church family; blessings and success can be in your own future as well. Your successful life can begin today!
As we look ahead, let’s expect great blessings from God. But remember, very often God blesses when we allow our faith to be stretched. For example, when all of Israel’s future hung in the balance, it was preserved by way of a non-israelite prostitute. She was absolutely a model of amazing faith.
How about you and I think beyond ourselves, stretch common expectations and grow our faith like Rahab? I know you can…. and here are three great tips to imitate Rahab’s faith in order to expect great blessings from God.
Of anything that you do to navigate for success through challenges… todays three ideas should be at the top. Joshua, crossing the Jordan, shows us several great steps for victory. We too can be victorious crossing our own challenges by imitating Joshua. So whatever battle you are facing today (or have around the bend), Joshua can help you move forward to victory.
One the most memorable narratives of the Old Testament is Joshua’s conquest of Jericho. It is an old story, but the principles are as relevant as ever. Besides the amazing truth that God can tear down the walls of our enemies, remember also, that God can tear down walls that we put up as well.
Following one of the greatest conquests’s recorded in the Old Testament is a miserable and embarrassing failure. Why? Jericho didn’t go as well as they thought. There was a big failure at Jericho that led to a bigger failure at Ai. Let's take a look at ourselves and learn from Ai’s failure and apply a few good lessons.
Israel sure had their share of challenges after the great Jericho victory. They had a quick and horrible failure, then another success, followed by the failure of chapter 9. Give them some credit for creativity though, for this time they failed in a new and unique way and they left us with a great bad example for decision making. Let’s enjoy todays story and learn a few lessons on how to make decsions.
God’s purposes for you to live a victorious life. Jesus said “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). God offers us daily victories over personal attacks, through relationship challenges and even over sin. But we have to keep going, we cannot quit and we need to trust God. No matter our age or our past failures, we can and will have continued success.
The Christian life is much like the book of Joshua. We live a life of preparation (chapters 1-5), battles (chapters 6-12), and blessings (chapters 13-24). This morning we begin the exciting section of Joshua that is filled with blessings and inheritance and we see that Caleb asked for even more. So can we.
Within the distribution of the promised land (Joshua 13-24), there is a short chapter (Joshua 20) that speaks interestingly about “refuge”. There were literally set aside six cities for the purpose of refuge- safety- or sanctuary. These cities are symbolic of Jesus, our refuge. If you feel left out, abandoned and alone, worry no more! God loves you and has provided for you a place to rest.
No matter your age, think of the length of your years. What have you/ will you become? What are your true values? What is worth all the struggle? Joshua is wrapping up his life journey at the age of 110 and he gave some remarkable life advice. In respect of Joshua, let’s listen in on his end of life speech and consider how we could better align ourselves with him.
It can be a tough road for a family, church or business to retain unity and trust. While we must gracefully keep one another accountable, we must also not fall into the all too common rut of gossip and presumption. Today’s text is remarkable as Israel found themselves on the brink of a full blown civil war as a result of “we heard it said”. Let’s receive today’s text as a preemptive warning to help us all remain healthy and unified.
Joshua finally spoke his final words in Joshua 24. Within his farewell address Joshua made a passionate appeal for the listener to worship and serve the Lord. Joshua internalized his own message and re-committed his own life with a “with or without you” attitude. This is the same (re) commitment we too can consider. Here is how it happened…….
Today’s passage brings to an end the life and story of Joshua. But we remain. Let's celebrate God's great work in our past but let's never stop expecting so much more to come.
