Rest With Jesus

REST WITH JESUS

In the Stern of the Boat

Robb Williams Ph.D.

Over my thirty-plus years of preparing and delivering sermons, one message consistently stands out above the rest. The sermon, based on Mark 4:35–41, titled Rest with Jesus: In the Stern of the Boat, is the one most often remembered and mentioned by those who have heard it. This booklet captures the essence of that cherished sermon.

I fondly recall a decade-long season when I was a regular guest summer preacher at Hume Lake Christian Camps, nestled in California’s Sequoia National Forest. My wife, Sarah, and our three children treasured those years, and it was during that time that this sermon became deeply significant to me and resonated profoundly with many others.

Throughout that decade of preaching, as well as during additional travels across the United States and abroad, this sermon has continued to be requested and referenced. What made it so memorable? Was it the vivid imagery, the compelling content, the unique delivery, or the deeply personal nature of the message? Thanks to the Lord, it seems likely that a combination of these elements has touched the hearts of so many. My prayer is that it is equally beneficial to you as well.

Christian Meditation

CHRISTIAN MEDITATION: Deep and Practical

Christian meditation, both deep and practical? Can it be possible? Absolutely, and you are one step closer to experiencing it yourself by reading this brief summary.

This third edition will soon be released. Pictured here is a draft copy. Our team is diligently working to see it's publication this summer, 2025.

The uniqueness of this book is that it first lays a theological foundation for meditation before moving into practical application. To often meditation is defined subjectively based only on it's practice, while this book will show the enormity of value on both an objective foundational base combined with the need for subjective experience.

Does the theology sound too much to handle? Are you dosing off already? Worry not. This book will leave you with the most practical of tools for successful Christian meditation. You will experience an intimacy with God that is otherwise impossible.

This book will assist your walk with God like few others. Pick it up, sip on a favorite drink, and consider the deep and practical aspect of meditation... but mostly let's finish the book and meditate.

“In my fast paced world of political commentary, along with the  pressures of listenership, I definitely benefit from Christian meditation. This book is well written, unique in its approach as well as beneficial — even necessary— for my daily life. I highly recommend that you follow the core principles in this book as I have.”

“Robb Williams has done a skilled work in this book framing a theology of meditation. In my 55 years in Christ, I cannot recall one sermon on the importance of meditation, a sad commentary. Yet, Charles Spurgeon said ‘The more you read the Bible; and the more you meditate on it, the more you will be astonished with it.’”

"Life sure is chaotic, and Robb’s explanation of Christian meditation centers me with God when I need it most, which in my field, is daily.”

"I am indebted to Robb Williams and this book, Christian Meditation. After all I have been through, I can honestly say that my soul is full. Meditation has become my main tool to handle affliction.”
